This website is not better with headphones but you can still put them on, I'll wait.

Eagle Films

About the project

Designing a website for a movie company… Action!

Eagle Films is an active player on the entertainment scene as a major Hollywood movies distributor and co-producer. They reach out to me to not only redesign their website but also to change the look and feel of their brand. The main challenge was to come up with a new visual identity, without updating the logo, that will fit with all the movies they release each year.

Visual Identity

Finding the Art direction matching Eagle Films

The Eagle Films brand has a luxurious and premium feel to it. The art direction needed to fit accordingly and to translate those core values into the visual.

Visual Design

All about movies, starting while loading

The main goal of the website was to highlight the movies that Eagle films produce or distribute. While loading, I chose to show quotes and images from their blockbusters to show visitors that they’ve already seen some of Eagle films’ movies without even knowing it.

Dynamic hero showing Eagle Films’ new movie

To avoid having one generic hero at the top of the homepage or choosing a movie that will make the hero outdated pretty fast, I designed a dynamic hero. It is fully customizable and will highlight the latest movie Eagle Films wants to show.

Showing the values, key dates and achievements of Eagle Films

The goal of this about page was also to fully show the values of Eagle films, their achievements and their tremendous number of awards won.

The importance of the mobile experience

It’s obvious to say that for a marketing website like this, the number of visitors coming from a handheld device is huge. I made sure the mobile experience was as good as the desktop one.

This website is best enjoyed in the dark, I guess...

What did I learn?

Becoming a time zone Ninja and planing accordingly

Our client was based in Lebanon, the developers were in New-York and I was based in San Francisco at the time. We had to make efforts and try to overlap as much as possible to make things easier.

Experiencing the movie industry from the inside

I’ve always been a huge fan of this industry and working on this project made me understand how it truly works in terms of production and distribution. Fun fact, I opened quite a few Hunger Games’ poster photoshop files and it was quite messy.

Designing with Arabic text from right to left

Eagle Films is huge in the middle East and needed a version of the website in Arabic. I had to take that into account when designing the layout. We had to make quite a few changes to make things works well on a language we were not able to speak, let alone read.
